GOLF COURSES & GOLF COURSE PROPERTIES ON OAHU (Part One)
/Oahu, Hawaii is a great location for golf lovers! There are over 40 public, municipal and private courses on Oahu to choose from, from casual municipal courses like Kahuku Golf Course to championship resort courses such as Ko’Olina Golf Club and Kapolei Golf Club. For stunning scenery and a challenging experience, consider Royal Hawaiian Golf Club or the resort amenities at Turtle Bay Resort.
The residential areas on Oahu that have golf course frontage or are close to great golf courses are varied and span the island. You can choose from single family homes near or on golf courses, or condominiums near or on golf courses. If you are more interested in areas which allow nightly vacation rentals, there are a few golf course vacation rental properties also! Below is an overview of the options, organized by area of the island:
Honolulu Golf Properties
Honolulu is the most populated area of the island and is a world-class city in itself. Honolulu has great access to shopping, dining, medical care, schools, beaches, cultural activities, and many areas of stunning natural beauty. It is also one of the more expensive areas of the island, due to the convenience and amenities it provides. Honolulu has three main regions: Metro, Diamond Head and Hawaii Kai. Honolulu is in the sunny and drier Southeast are of the island and features some of the best weather and most days of sunshine on Oahu.
Diamond Head Golf Properties
The Wai’alae Country Club is a first class membership-only property with a private, championship golf course, and home of the annual Sony Open. This is in the prestigious Diamond Head Region of Honolulu and in the Kahala neighborhood. Homes fronting this golf course will be found in the Waialae Golf Course neighborhood or in Kahala. The only condominium very close to the Waialae Golf Course property is the Kahala Beach Apartments, which are leasehold and nearing the end of their lease, so not currently a good option.
Metro Honolulu Golf Properties
The Oahu Country Club features Honolulu’s very first private, members-only golf course on Oahu and is situated in Metro Honolulu, in the lush Nu’uanu Valley area, off the Pali Highway. Homes with frontage on the Oahu Country Club exist, but they very rarely come on the market, with most properties in the surrounding Oahu CC, Old Pali, or Nuuanu Area neighborhoods, and not fronting the golf course itself. Most of the frontage properties are located on Country Club Road or Pahoehoe Place. The Honolulu Country Club, located in the Salt Lake area of Metro Honolulu, is another lovely golf course and private club in Honolulu. The Ala Wai Golf Course is a municipal public golf course course, closer to Waikiki, Ala Moana, downtown and the other Metro Honolulu areas. Many high-rise Honolulu condominiums have lovely views of this course. The Moanalua Golf Club, in Metro Honolulu, is Hawaii’s oldest golf course, established in 1898, is a public course with historical significant in the lush Moanalua area of Honolulu.
Military golf courses in Metro Honolulu Region are in the Joint Base, Pearl Harbor - Hickham area and include: the Navy Marine Golf Course, the Ke’alohi Golf Course, and the Malama Bay Golf Course on Hickham AFB, none of which are open to the public. This area is also close to Salt Lake and Moanalua, where there are other private and public golf clubs already mentioned. There is also the Walter J. Nagorski Golf Course, nestled in the foothills of Fort Shafter valley, which open to the public, as well as military.
Hawaii Kai Golf Properties
The Hawaii Kai Golf Course, a privately-owned public golf course in the Hawaii Kai Region, is on the sunny and dry, far-East side of Honolulu. Residential communities in Hawaii Kai with golf course frontage and/or views include: Koko Villas, Queens Gate (I and II), and Laulima.

Windward Oahu - Kailua & Kaneohe - Golf Properties
Windward Oahu features the larger communities of Kailua and Kaneohe and several smaller towns such as Waimanalo, Hau’ula, and Laie. This area is a bit cooler than Honolulu, due to the gentle tradewinds and has a little bit more rain. Most of the golf courses are in the Kailua and Kaneohe areas. The Mid-Pacific Country Club in Kailua features a private members-only golf course. This course, situated in the beach neighborhood of Lanikai, has frontage in the Kailua neighborhoods of Country Club Knoll, Bluestone, and Enchanted Lake.
Public courses include the picturesque Royal Hawaiian Golf Course in the Maunawili area of Kailua and the Olomana Golf Links Course in Waimanalo. The former Ko’olau Golf Course in Kaneohe has been sold and closed since 2020, though lessons are still offered there. The Pali Golf Course is a municipal public golf course in Kailua, but also near Kaneohe. There is also the public Bayview Golf Course, in Kaneohe, and the Kaneohe Klipper Course, for military only, on the MCBH at Kaneohe Bay.
