GOLF COURSES & GOLF COURSE PROPERTIES ON OAHU (Part Four)

Welcome Back to Part IV of our Series on Golf Course Homes on Oahu! As mentioned previously, Oahu, Hawaii is a great location for golf lovers! There are over 40 public, municipal and private courses on Oahu to choose from. No matter where you live, there is at least one golf course nearby. We return now with information about golf courses and golf course communities in the North Shore Oahu areas of Wahiawa and Turtle Bay - Kahuku.

North Shore Area

Leilehua Golf Course

Leilehua Golf Course is a well-known, 18-hole public golf course located near Wheeler Army Airfield and Mililani Tech Park in Wahiawa, Hawaii. This town is between Mililani and the North Shore. I have included it in the North Shore options as it would be one of the closest courses if you lived in Haleiwa, Waialua, or Mokuleia on the North Shore. It is convenient to Central Oahu, as well. Originally opened in the late 1940s and redesigned in 2011, it features MiniVerde Bermuda greens, a driving range, and a clubhouse with a full-service restaurant, offering scenic views of the mountains. While it's a military facility, it is open to the public and is a favorite of the local golfing community.

Homes in Wahiawa range from about $600K to $1.5M, with most of them being in the $700K-$1.1M range. Living in the Launani Valley of Mililani would also be very convenient to this course. The Launani Valley is an enclave of townhomes, duplexes, and condos in a lush setting adjacent to the course. Price there range from the mid-400K’s to about $1M, currently.

Turtle Bay Golf Course

The Turtle Bay Golf Course on Eastern side of Oahu's North Shore, in the Kahuku community, features two 18-hole courses: the championship-level Arnold Palmer Course, known for its ocean views and distinct Scottish links-style front nine and tropical back nine, and the more accessible George Fazio Course, suitable for beginners. Both courses are public, offering lush tropical scenery, excellent practice facilities, and are part of the larger Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay Resort experience, making it a prominent luxury golf destination in Hawaii. Housing for purchase in the immediate area of the Turtle Bay Golf Course is limited to three options: The Ocean Villas at Turtle Bay and Kuilima East and West. The Ocean Villas currently sell from about $3.5-$6M for 3 and 4 bedroom villas in a gated community, with access to tennis courts, golf, and a stunning beach. With ownership in the Ocean Villas, you will have also have access to Ritz-Carlton amenities on the property, such as the pool and fitness center.

Kuilima East and Kuilima West are townhome properties adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton. Owners of these properties do not have access to Ritz-Carlton amenities. On-site amenities do include a swimming pool, tennis/pickleball courts, and a short distance to the beaches, which are all public in Hawaii. Prices for these condos range from about $1M-$2M for 0-2 bedroom units, many with an extra loft area which functions as an extra bedroom.

Since Turtle Bay and the Kuilima area are resort-zoned areas, owners of all three of these properties are eligible to rent their properties nightly, as vacation rentals. Rentals are attractive her as there is a lot to do at beautiful Turtle Bay Resort, which has several restaurants, bars, and shops. They also hold concerts, and other special activities on the premises from time-to-time. Activites such as surfing, horseback riding, and ziplining are available in this area.

Kahuku Golf Course

The Kahuku Golf Course is a municipal golf course near the North Shore area of Turtle Bay, but further South toward Laie on the Windward Coast. The Kahuku Golf Course is a unique, no-frills 9-hole public course, known for its stunning ocean views and affordable, relaxed atmosphere rather than manicured conditions. Dating back to the 1920s and now run by the city, it offers a natural, walking-only experience with straightforward fairways, challenging wind, and a distinctly uncommercial vibe, making it an ideal spot for a casual round or for golfers on a budget. There is no pro-shop, but there are vending machines for a snack.

Single family homes in the Kahuku area range from about $750K to $1.1M, unless they are on the ocean. Oceanfront and sandy beach homes will range from about $4M to $10M, unless they involve significant acreage, which would sell for more.
